Custom Backing Tracks

Watch the video to learn about the backing tracks used in this course

Video Backing Tracks

This example video has it all:

  • Emotive images
  • Atmospherics
  • Every chord announced
This particular style of backing track is designed for beginners who are trying to get to grips with timing and nailing those chord changes. Every chord is announced so that students don't get lost!

Of course there are many other versions which can include:

  • Not announced No Atmopherics
  • Chord CHANGES Announced WITH Atmospherics
  • Every Bar Announced
And other variations to suit the learner.

What's with the numbers?
Part of the BluesBlock method ditches the alphabet and we use numbers instead. The numbers then represent the chord and the target notes. Its as easy as 1, 2, 3 literally!

MP3 Backing Tracks

As with videos there are multiple versions of downloadable MP3 backing tracks so that you can have them at the ready on any device of your choosing.

How to Download a Backing Track

Tennessee Whiskey

This is a stripped down, melodic backing track to help with the initial deconstruction of Taj Farrant's improvisation using the BluesBlock. Then the track can be used as a backing to your own improvisation.

BB King - The Thrill is Gone

Thrill Is Gone Announced chord CHANGES with Atmospherics.mp3 6.53 MB

This track only announces the actual changes and is best used to start developing anticipation for the structure of the 12 bar blues minor variation.

ZZ Top - Blue Jean Blues

Blue Jean Blues NO Atmopherics NO Announcements.mp3 1.09 MB

This track is actually a Community Submission Track that is a straight forward, 10 bar backing track for members to share their solos.

Here is a 5 minute version of the track that you can download:

Tennessee Whiskey

A real melodic major progression that allows you to dig in to your expression. It's also great to practice over if you want to try out my breakdown of Taj Farrant's cover on YouTube.

Need Your Love So Bad

This is a backing track for the outro solo. I created it for students to practice over if they are leaning the complete solo from my series of lessons that are hosted on YouTube.
